Westpac Stadium in 360°

MEDIA RELEASE: Property3D
29 August 2018

Westpac Stadium is New Zealand’s premiere multi purpose outdoor sports and events facility. This venue was one P3D had our eye on for a little while now so it is a great thrill to be able to announce and preview the tour for Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

The process began prior to visiting the National Digital Forum (NDF) forum in Wellington last November. P3D’s Marcia Jessen approached the Stadiums marketing team with a view to visiting our display stand at NDF as a straightforward way of showcasing what we are capable.

Westpac’s team were excited by the potential to create a 360 Custom Tour of the Stadium, it’s entrances from an accessibility point of view and conference spaces on offer to corporates.

The creation of the tour began back in March this year – The first piece of photography was taken with an aerial drone over the stadium – this was taken with a view to showcase the stadium access points. These range from the Wellington Train Stadium, Thorndon Spiral, The Fran Wilde Walkway as well as the carpark these were a focus to ensure the Stadium patrons know the different ways of transport to the stadium. Another drone image taken at 200ft showcases the Circular Westpac Stadium in all its glory from a bird’s eye view.

Another focus for showcasing the stadium via 360 Virtual imagery is to help grow its membership club. This adjective is captured from the members and corporate entrances as well as the facilities on offer to them.

“The 3D Property team were a treat to deal with. Marcia was always there to answer any questions along the way. They were so patient and worked around any restrictions that were put in front of them. We are delighted with the end product!’’

Amy Lynch, Digital & Fan Engagement Executive – Westpac Stadium

P3D are proud to have completed another stunning custom virtual tour for a landmark New Zealand Stadium and event venue. It’s a great addition to our portfolio and one that we think will benefit our clients both for the future by locals and international stadium attendees as they can view prior to heading to future events at the Westpac Stadium.

One of Auckland’s finest event destinations becomes fully digitalised

MEDIA RELEASE: Property3D
14 August 2018

Vodafone Events Centre situated in Manukau City is one of Auckland’s most unique event spaces. As you can see from a few snippets (above) of the tour this location has beautiful large indoor and outdoor event space to suit many requirements.

With the addition of Wero Whitewater Park in the past few years, the profile of the Events Centre has been raised as a destination for both local and international visitors and will only continue to benefit Manukau City.

P3D were engaged to help showcase that within this precinct there are spaces which are ‘World Class’ across the board for requirements by Performing Arts, Entertainment and Sport. From the initial scope of the job we envisaged a range of 360 imagery could be utilized to show these spaces off to their best advantage.

Our photographers headed out one clear blue sky morning to capture these spaces. The imagery was then uploaded into our CVT tour platform and we worked closely with Joseph (GM Community Engagement) to create additional dialogue to be added to the tour.  This informative tour features beautiful visuals from Aerial Drone footage as well as 360 stills showcasing the variety of event spaces inside Vodafone Events Centre. We are very pleased with the result!

AUT Virtual Tour goes live

MEDIA RELEASE: Property3D
22 March 2018

The relationship between AUT (Auckland University of Technology) and P3D began back in 2014 when two student interns from AUT joined the P3D team.  In their newly found roles, they were keen to showcase AUT as they realised that this new way of presenting spaces would work perfectly for the numerous AUT buildings.

From an initial phone call to numerous site visits to the three Auckland campuses, P3D began shooting the imagery back in late 2016 and this continued into early 2017. Two photographers worked tirelessly to capture over 2200, 360 stills throughout the different lecture theatres, classrooms and common areas across all the campuses. This project involved distinct planning in which our project team had to work closely with AUT to pick the best time to shoot the buildings, taking consideration of room use, term time, weather, construction and so on. The imagery has been live on Google Maps for just under a year, however, the focus of the project was around building the custom tour. Each campus is broken down by building and floor levels which feature 360 stills showcasing the space. This immersive way of marketing the university will allow for more domestic and international students to view the university – find which classroom they may be in for the following semester or browsing the University as a whole.

The project in its entirety has been an immersive experience from start to finish. From business analysis, project lifecycle management, photography, design, implementation, to training – we are delighted with the result. This is the first University in New Zealand to be completely digitised in an immersive Virtual Tour.

Google Certifies Insta360 Pro as First ‘Street View Auto Ready’ Camera

The Insta360 Pro is currently the only camera recognized by Google as capable of vehicle-mounted use.

Following close collaboration with Google to certify a seamless capture and sharing experience, the Insta360 Pro has been distinguished as part of the ‘Street View ready’ program. Google will also use 50 Insta360 Pros to extend the range of collection capabilities under its Street View camera loan program.

Devices recognized in the ‘Street View ready’ program are perfectly suited for contributing 360-degree content to Google Street View, allowing users to put their own stamp on the global patchwork of immersive street-level views that’s accessible via Google Maps, Google Earth, and the Street View app.

“When Google Street View kicked off in 2007, high-quality 360 photography was only available to those with the resources and know-how to build their own cameras,” said Charles Armstrong, Google Street View product manager. “Now, thanks to the advances of companies like Insta360, anyone can create immersive 360-degree experiences and contribute them to Street View’s extensive map of the world.”

The Insta360 Pro is shown mounted on a RIDIC camera-to-vehicle mount.

The Insta360 Pro is the only camera currently certified by Google as “Street View auto ready”, a category reserved for “advanced cameras that offer high-speed, high-accuracy Street View capture and publishing.”

If you’ve ever seen a Google Street View car on the road, then you know what “Street View auto ready” is all about. Thanks to its onboard stabilization and advanced optical-flow stitching algorithm, the Insta360 Pro can capture high-quality content while mounted on a moving vehicle.

Insta360 Pro users will be able to control the Pro with the Street View app, and upload their 360-degree content directly to Street View using the free Insta360 Stitcher software. The Pro will also add a new 5 FPS 8K shooting mode – optimized for efficient Street View content collection – and support an optionally-bundled USB accessory to automatically append GPS data to 360 photos.

Google has also included the Insta360 Pro in its Street View loan program, which provides cameras to photographers, travelers and a variety of organizations that want to make 360 contributions to Street View from around the world.
